Wardgroup were pleased to donate paints to the Furness Waste Consortium to enable them to work with the children of South Walney School to create a mural on the side of their container, which is used as a base for the North Walney Nature Reserve. The inspiration for the mural came from drawings by the Skylark class at South Walney School and the drawings were copied as accurately as possible to retain the innocence of the children’s drawings.
The Furness Waste Consortium approached South Walney Infant and Nursery School in summer 2016 and asked them to create some drawings of what they imagined could be found in the sea off Walney. Skylarks class provided the drawings for us to interpret and artist Dominika Phillips managed the painting of the mural along with her partner.
The project has had many positive comments during the painting and the Skylarks teacher Colleen Fagan loves the interpretation.
The Furness Waste Consortium thanked Wardgroup Decorating Centre for the supply of the paints which helped them to turn the drawings into the Mural you can see on this page.
